Jennifer Braddock
6ft/11.5 st. (1968)

 

Born in Longdon-on-Tern, Shropshire and coached by Claire Turner, she was encouraged to take up the sport at Birmingham University. Her role model is Lance Armstrong, because he is a fantastic athlete who over =came a critical illness. She says a medal in the Commonwealth Championships is her ambition.

Joanne Dacre
5ft 8in (1974)

Born in Liverpool, she took up the sport when watching the men's game at 16. She is coached by her father Gordon and her role model is Joanne Farrell because of her dedication to training. Her proudest moment was winning the National League and playing in Europe with Liverpool.

Ruth Hawney
5ft 6in/9 stones (1980)

Born in Northampton and coached by Pippa Jones she took up waterpolo 8 years ago when she got bored with swimming. Her role model is Jen Braddock for her fitness and dedication. The proudest moment of her career was playing in the Olympic Games qualifier against Russia and her ambition is to become the best she can and play in the Olympic Games.

Born in Great Yarmouth and coached by Claire Turner she was introduced to the sport by her father from swimming. Her role model is Sir Steven Redgrave and Lance Armstrong and her proudest moments have been her medal winning exploits in Australia having moved there 4 years ago. She says her lifetime ambition is to narrow it down to one.

Domestic Events: England - National League 1st (2001) Moved to Australia (1998), Australia - Sydney Metro Comp. (1st 2001, 2nd 1999, 1998), Australia - Club Nationals (2nd 2001, 3rd 1999, 4th 2000)

Siobhan Winter

Born in Birkenhead and coached by Gordon Dacre, she became interested in the sport after National Age Group Swimming, she entered the Merseyside Youth Games for the Wirral and Gordon Dacre asked her to join Liverpool. Her role Model is Sir Steven Redgrave for his commitment and dedication. She also admires the Hungarian team and her proudest moments have been winning the European B's in Prague, the National League in 2000 and playoing five sports for her county in the same year. Her ambition is to play abroad.

Helen Dacre

Born in Liverpool and coached by her father Gordon Dacre, she became interested in the sport aged 13 through her dad and her role model is sister Joanne for being the most dedicated player she knows. Her ambition is to travel around the World and her proudest moment was winning the National League Division 1 in 2000

Fran Leighton

Born in Rotherham, Fran is coached by her father, Norman and started playing about the age of 13 or 14 after watching the men's game nearly all her life - her brother and sister also pal waterpolo. Winning the Junior ASA Championships, playing in the World Juniors and getting through to the LEN Trophy semi-finals, rank as her proudest sporting moments

Lisa was born in Plymouth and is coached by Claire Turner and took up the sport in her final year of University when a friend encouraged her to try. Sir Steven Redgrave is her sporting role model for his commitment and desire to succeed and her proudest moment is hoping past moments will be succeeded by winning a medal at the Commonwealths. Her ambition is to continually improve and be the best player she possible can.
