Julia was born in Southport, Queensland but now lives in Brisbane where she plays for the Warriors. She is coached by Sharyn Gist and Istvan Gorgenyi and took up waterpolo at Brisbane Girls School, before which she was a swimmer. Her sporting role model is the underdog because they overcome many obstacles to win with a lot of patience and determination. Representing her country was her proudest moment and her ambition is to always put in 100% and have a happy and fun-filled, healthy life. She has lots of role models but admires people who never quit and strive for their goals and dreams. Born in Sydney Rebecca took up the sport at school when they needed swimmers for the team - she also had two older brothers who played and it looked like fun. Her role model is Simone Hankin, who has given her the encouragement and support she needed and has shown her what it means to be dedicated. Winning the National Club Championships in 2002 and two silver medals at the World Junior Championships, rank as her proudest moments in sport and her ambition is to live for now and not look too far ahead. Elise was born in Sydney and took up the sport aged 12 when a friend told her they were searching for players to form a junior team at Sydney University after being a swimmer for many years. Ian Thorpe is her role model - he doesn't let success or the media get to him, loving what he does and nothing can change that. Representing her country and winning the National Junior and Open titles in 2001 are her proudest moments and her ambition is to perform the best she can in all she does and to make the most of what God has given her. Her major achievements include coming second in the FINA World JUnior Championships in Prague in 1997, and being nominated Junior Sports Star of the Year in 1995 & 1996. Her hobbies are surfing, scuba diving and soccer and her father, Eddy played in the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games for Australia. |
